Guinness Record for Largest Internet Poker Tournament

Posted under Fulltiltpoker & online poker & poker

Full Tilt Poker will attempt to stamp its name on the Guinness Records and to do so; the site has announced that it will try to set a new record for the Largest Online Poker Tournament. Full Tilt’s Record Breaker tournament was unveiled as the finale to FIVE, a week of events and promotions created exclusively to celebrate the site’s 5th anniversary. The tournament will take place on July 19th at 15:05ET, players can buy in for this event for only $5 or 1000 Full Tilt Points and compete for a share of a $250,000 guaranteed with $250,000 added prize pool. Players can also get entries to this event by playing the online satellites available on the site and starting for as little as 30 cents or 50 Full Tilt Points.

Team Full Tilt pros and WSOP bracelet winners Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson and Phil Ivey have already confirmed they will take part in the event, offering players the chance to sit down at this historic tournament and play with some of the best high stakes and tournament pros in the world.

“By extending the limits of what is possible in online poker tournaments, Full Tilt Poker will allow players to compete for a big payout without the big buy-in,” said Team Full Tilt member Howard Lederer.

Putting together a poker tournament of this magnitude would be nearly impossible for any brick and mortar casino or poker room. The current record for the largest “live” poker tournament was set at the 2006 WSOP Main Event with 8,772 players. To break the current Guinness Record set by PokeStars.com in December, 2008, Full Tilt Poker will need to attract over 35.000 players. If successful, this tournament will establish Full Tilt Poker as World Record holder and cement its reputation as a world leader in online poker industry.

Should I join a Rakeback program?

Posted under online casinos & online poker & poker & poker rakeback

Anyone that spends any amount of time on the Internet has seen dozens of rakeback offers. Even if you do play online poker, you may not understand what they are for, or why anyone would want to sign up for one. After all it’s more convenient to just go to the casino and sign up, right?
Most rakeback offers are made by third-party affiliates. These rakeback affiliates are paid to attract and sign up new accounts at online casinos. In fact most online casinos that offers rakeback deals with affiliates instead of offering it themselves. There are a few that do so be sure you read the terms of any site you are considering. There are even some online casinos that do not offer rake back, or partner with affiliates to offer it either. If you sign up with an online poker rakeback affiliate that has illegally linked to an online casino, you risk loosing your account and any money in it.
When you play poker online you pay a fee to the internet poker room for every hand you play. Signing up for poker rakeback offers, allows you to get a portion of this fee returned to your account. If you are a dedicated player this amount can add up quickly, and you may receive hundreds of dollars each and every month that you play real money games.

Signing up for rakeback offers makes a lot of sense, especially if you are just beginning to play online poker. It will help you to learn how to play and gain experience without going broke. After you gain experience you may even earn a good income, just don’t risk more than you can afford to lose at any giving time. Even if you play responsibly you will get a lot of enjoyment out of online poker.

Is online poker profitable?

Posted under online poker & poker & poker games & poker profit

Many professional poker players think that you should begin at lower limit games until you have built up the bankroll to continue with higher limit games. The majority of online poker sites have this available feature so that you can remember how they play. You want a table where you have the advantage. You don’t want to give the advantage to the other players.

Look for low limit tables until you can feel that you have the skills to play at a higher limit, especially in places like Poker Stars, Ultimate Bet, Absolute Poker and Bodog Poker. Most online poker players are simply looking to win some money, you can often increase your chances of winning by playing a game you might be better at – and that often isn’t Hold’em surprisingly, whether it is limit or not. Take players like Phil Ivey, Chris Moneymaker or Mike Matusow for example, they admit playing Hold’em in many tournaments and cash games just for the juicy cash prizes. Your best way to make the most money in online poker is to learn all of the other games so that you can mix up your skills and see which ones you make the most money at.

Many Pros only play Hold’em when it comes to tournaments and high stakes cash games, but when they are playing online poker, or they are playing in the WSOP they tend to concentrate on games such as 7 card stud, 7 card stud h/l, Omaha, Omaha h/l, 5 card draw, Razz, and other variations of Hold’em. The one thing you don’t want to do is start higher than you feel comfortable with. If you are nervous and your palms are sweaty and you’ve already deemed your self a loser at online poker from the time you enter the table, then you are at limits that are too high for your skill. You don’t want to sit down at a table and realize after you lost $100.00 that you are playing with all sharks. You want to watch a table for at least a few minutes to gauge how they play. If you see the same people over and over again, keep notes on them.
